USER GUIDE
FLEXTONE: TAP LIT BUTTON FOR TAP TEMPO / HOLD LIT BUTTON FOR MANUAL
Thanks for purchasing the FB4 – the remote control pedal for Line 6 Digital Guitar
Systems. The FB4 is designed exclusively for use with Line 6 Digital Guitar Systems.
Do not attempt to connect the FB4 to any other product. Your FB4 includes a
locking cable, and connects to the Digital Guitar System via the jacks on the side
of the FB4, and the back of your Digital Guitar System. The cable allows the FB4
and Digital Guitar Sysem to communicate, and also supplies the FB4 with power;
there is no separate power cord needed for the FB4. See the reverse side for
more cable info.
Operating the FB4 is simple. Step on one of its switches to choose one of the
four Sounds or channels of your Digital Guitar System. For the AxSys 212 or AX2,
this will be Sound or Channel A, B, C, or D of the current Sound Bank. For
Flextones, this is simply channel A, B, C, or D. Please see your Digital Guitar System's
manual for more information on Sound selection.
With a Flextone, you can also access Manual Mode from the FB4 if you hold down
the currently lit button (the channel you currently have selected) for two seconds.
All the lights will turn off on the FB4, letting you know you're in manual mode. You
can also access a Flextone'sTapTempo function by tapping on the currently lit button
(the channel you currently have selected).Tap two or more times to set the tap
tempo. Please see the Flextone manual for more information on Manual Mode and
TapTempo.

Care and Feeding
You can clean the FB4 with a damp (not wet) cloth.
Cable Specifications
The cable that connects the FB4 is a standard cable used in the computer industry
for connecting networks of computers. We chose this type of cable for the FB4
because (1) it can carry multiple signals simultaneously, allowing it to transport
both power and communications between the Digital Guitar System and the FB4,
eliminating the need for multiple tangled cables or a bulky wall wart; (2) it gives
you locking connectors on both ends to insure you don't disconnect from the
Digital Guitar System or FB4 by accident when you're jumping up and down on
your FB4; (3) it has a proven track record for reliability in millions of computer
installations around the world; (4) replacement cables are available in a variety of
lengths and at low cost at any major computer supply store.
When purchasing a replacement cable, you should specify a:
Category 5 - 10 Base-T or RJ-45 cable with male connectors on both ends.
The connectors on the end of the cable are called RJ-45
connectors; these are the standard type of connector used for
10 Base-T computer networks. So asking for "a 10 Base-T cable"
or for "an RJ-45 cable" should get you what you need.
There is a 1 to 5 grading system for computer network cable quality,
with 5 being the highest quality. Get the good one.
If you're unsure if you've got the right thing, note that the RJ-45 connectors basically
look like a wide version of standard US telephone line connectors, with 8 contacts
instead of 4. Cables can also be purchased directly from Line 6.
